The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) discovered a three-meter-high underground tunnel along the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt early last week, Day.Az reports, citing the IDF’s Telegram channel.

The report specifies that Israeli troops have recently been working to locate and destroy underground tunnels in the Philadelphia Corridor area. The IDF claims that the military has located and destroyed dozens of tunnels.

In July, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galan said the IDF could leave the so-called Philadelphia Corridor on the Gaza Strip border with Egypt if the arms smuggling problem there was resolved.

Let us recall that the situation in the Middle East worsened on October 7 last year, when thousands of armed militants from the radical Palestinian movement Hamas entered Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, attacked civilians and kidnapped more than 200 hostages.
