The Israeli Biogroup Bonus won the prestigious Advanced Therapies Award in the most important category: Cell Therapy Biotech Innovation. The award crowns the company as the world leader in innovation in biotechnology and cellular medicine and in the development of effective treatments for patients.
The winning of the award, which is considered the “Oscar” of biotechnology, was announced as part of the Advanced Therapies Week 2024 held on January 16-19, 2024 in Miami, USA. The Advanced Therapies Week is aimed at companies in the cellular and genetic medicine industry, from around the world, for exposure of treatments and innovative products in advanced stages of development and considering collaborations for their commercialization.
Bonus Biogroup is the first Israeli company to win this award, for its achievements in the development of two innovative products, which are in advanced clinical trials: Mezancure – a cellular drug for the treatment of inflammation and tissue damage, including pneumonia and respiratory distress; and Bonophil – a living implant of human bone, for the purpose of supplementing, regenerating and building bone tissue.
In other categories, key organizations and personalities in the field of biotechnology were honored. The prize for innovation in genetic medicine was won by Rocket Pharmaceuticals, which is traded on Nasdaq at a value of approximately $2.4 billion (NASDAQ: RCKT). The prize for contribution to patient care was won by Novartis Gene Therapies, formerly AveXis, which was acquired by Novartis Global in 2018 in exchange for 8.7 billion dollars in cash The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Prof. Luigi Naldini, the pioneer of genetic medicine.
