Israeli forces stormed an al-Aqsa mosque in East Jerusalem on Friday morning. The Israeli army opened fire during the morning prayers. TRT World reported, citing local media, that troops entered the church and used grenades and tear gas.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said 67 injured people had been evacuated from the mosque to hospital.
Videos of troops storming the church and unleashing unrest have been circulating on social media.
The Israeli army’s violence comes as Eid al-Fitr and Ramadan approach. Last year there were similar incidents that lasted for days and killed many people.
