The Israeli Armed Forces have reported that they have completed the siege of Gaza City and have also managed to divide the territory of the Gaza Strip in two.
Reconnaissance troops from the Golani Brigade “have reached the coastline and are holding their position,” explained the main spokesman for the Israeli Armed Forces, Daniel Hagari, according to the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’ in its digital edition.
“Today there is north of Gaza and south of Gaza,” added Hagari, who clarified that the transit of civilians from the northern part of the enclave to the south will continue to be allowed, as ordered by the Israeli military authorities themselves.
Hagari explained that they continue to launch “significant” attacks against “terrorist infrastructure”, “both underground and at ground level.”
USE OF HOSPITALS BY HAMAS
The Israeli military spokesman has also shown new evidence of the use of Gaza hospitals for military purposes by Hamas militias, such as the launching of rockets from health centers.
Thus, he has shown images that would demonstrate that there is an entrance to Hamas tunnels on the land where the Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Zani Hospital is located, in the north of Gaza City, and how the militants have fired from the hospital against Israeli ground forces that were nearby.
“Today we are also going to publish evidence that the Indonesian Hospital is being used by Hamas to hide an underground command and control center,” he noted. Hagari has thus shown an image in which a rocket launcher is supposed to be seen located just 80 meters from the health center.
In addition, he has accused the Islamist group of preventing the population from the north of the Strip from traveling to the south. Israel has released more than 1.5 million leaflets and telephoned more than 20,000 residents.
Specifically, Hagari denounced that Hamas militiamen attacked Israeli forces this Saturday who were trying to create a humanitarian corridor with anti-tank missiles.
“I want to be clear. The Israel Defense Forces have adjusted their ground operations so that the north-south corridors remain open, but Hamas is attacking our forces,” he explained.
