The incident took place in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Those who were killed in the earlier attack by the Israeli forces here were buried in a mass by preparing a temporary graveyard in the block two area of the refugee camp. It was in this area that Israeli bombers launched a massive attack yesterday. Al Jazeera journalists who visited the scene reported that bodies were scattered around the cemetery.
“The bodies of the people I knew buried there were scattered. These are martyrs for me’ – said the eyewitness to Aljazeera. His grandmother, uncle and aunt were buried here.
He questioned Israel’s false claim that they attack those who attack them: ‘Can’t those in the mass graves defend themselves? They don’t even have a missile. Only the martyrs of Jabaliya refugee camp and surrounding areas are here. “An F-16 plane bombed them,” he said.
‘Israel destroyed mass graves containing the bodies of hundreds of recently buried martyrs. The bodies lying underground were scattered outside. Civil Defense teams in Gaza are busy reburying them,” said Ahmed Al Kahlout, director of Gaza Civil Defense.
Israeli forces have targeted cemeteries before. Graves were dug and many dead bodies were taken away. Due to the difficulty of reaching the existing cemeteries, bodies are buried in temporary facilities in most places. Many graves have been prepared in public and private places such as residential areas, backyards, playgrounds, etc. 30,410 people have been killed in Gaza so far in the Israeli attack. 71,700 people were injured.
