During ground operations by the Israel Defense Forces, an Israeli soldier named Ori Megidish was released, becoming the first hostage to be rescued. Netanyahu further added that calls for a ceasefire would amount to surrendering to Hamas, emphasizing that Israel would not yield to terror or barbarism.

The death of Shani Louk, a 22-year-old German-Israeli woman believed to have been abducted by Hamas, was also confirmed. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned her death, labeling it an act of terror, and reiterated Israel’s right to defend itself.
As tensions continue to escalate, the IDF has intensified its activities in Gaza, although it has refrained from disclosing specific troop locations. Video footage posted online showed an Israeli tank and bulldozer on the outskirts of Gaza City, raising concerns about the safety of civilians trapped in the conflict zone.
Israel has also carried out numerous strikes on targets in Gaza, including weapons depots, anti-tank missile launching posts, and Hamas hideouts. However, these strikes have prompted the UN’s humanitarian arm to express concern over their proximity to hospitals.

However, Israel’s air force targeted “military infrastructure” in Syria and Jenin in the West Bank after rockets were launched from these areas.
The situation remains volatile, with Israel prepared for potential hostilities along its northern border with Lebanon, where cross-border fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants has been escalating. Rockets fired from Lebanon into northern Israel have heightened tensions further.
The ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, which began after the deadliest attack on Israeli soil by Hamas militants, has resulted in a significant loss of life and widespread injuries. According to Palestinian officials, the Israeli airstrikes have killed over 8,000 people in Gaza and injured more than 20,000 individuals.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has raised alarm over the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, stating that thousands of families are sleeping in makeshift shelters or out in the open with limited access to food and water. Hospitals in the area are on the brink of collapse, and wastewater treatment plants are no longer functioning.
