“I want to deny the statement that the current government periodically repeats, as if the political echelon was somehow not informed that Hamas was not deterred,” Y. Lapidas said while talking to the daily’s reporter.
“Indeed he was briefed, I was briefed,” he said, adding that the intelligence material he saw, “of course the prime minister and cabinet ministers also saw.”
“It was clear what they (Hamas) wanted,” he explained.
Y. Lapidas pointed out that in 2023 August 21 attending a security meeting with Netanyahu and military adviser Maj. Gen. Avi Gil in which Gil warned about Iran’s so-called “axis of resistance” — fronts in Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank.
He said the information was “unbelievable” but that Netanyahu “appeared bored and indifferent to the matter and did not comment on it”.

“Yair Lapid is lying again,” she said, arguing that Netanyahu had absolutely no warning before Hamas invaded Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people and taking 250 hostages.
