/ The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Saturday that Israeli President Isaac Herzog met “secretly” in Germany with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Isaac Herzog “met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Germany,” noting that “the two men discussed the issue of releasing the hostages.”

The newspaper indicated that “the two met secretly as part of the Munich Security Conference.”

Channel 12 reported that Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, is insisting on his demands during the Cairo negotiations, and that there are no indications of reaching a compromise.

Yedioth Ahronoth also reported that CIA Director William Burns visited Israel and met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mossad chief Dadi Barnea.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday that it was “still possible” to reach a truce agreement between Israel and Hamas and release the hostages.

Media reports indicated that Hamas had proposed releasing all detainees in Israeli prisons who had been detained up until the day the deal was signed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected this request.

Negotiations were held in Cairo, mediated by Qatar, Egypt and the United States, to reach a truce that would include the release of more hostages held by Hamas and Palestinians held in Israel.

The war in Gaza has entered its 133rd day, while the specter of a humanitarian disaster looms over Rafah, which is awaiting an Israeli military operation, coinciding with negotiations in Egypt regarding a truce and the release of prisoners and hostages.
