Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Discharged from Hospital after Dehydration

TEL HASHOMER, Israel, July 16 (Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been discharged from the hospital after being admitted the previous day for dehydration. Doctors have confirmed that he is in good health.

Netanyahu, 73, was taken to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer on Saturday, near his private residence in coastal Caesarea. He was kept overnight under observation.

The Prime Minister’s motor convoy was seen departing Sheba Hospital, and Israeli media quoted his office as saying that he had been discharged.

In a video statement on Saturday, Netanyahu, wearing a blazer and smiling, explained that he had been on holiday at the Sea of Galilee and did not properly protect himself from the heatwave.

The hospital, Sheba, confirmed on Sunday that Netanyahu had been diagnosed with dehydration and stated that additional tests involving a subcutaneous holter revealed that he is “in complete cardiac health.”

As a result of his hospitalization, Israel’s weekly cabinet meeting, usually held on Sunday, has been postponed to Monday, according to the Prime Minister’s office.

Netanyahu’s health scare comes at a critical time for Israeli politics, as he faces mounting pressure over his corruption trial and governing coalition dynamics.
