Israeli pride: 14-year-old Yuval, an Israeli boy who lives with his family in Germany, appeared on the German version of the singing program ‘The Voice’, where he stunned the audience and performed an audition in Hebrew, the song “Jasmine” by the Blue Elephant band. The program called for Yuval’s performance of “A Beautiful Love Song”.
At De Vis, the auditions take place in the format of rotating chairs. The four judges hear the contestant, but for the surprise factor they don’t see him unless they choose him to go on to the next stage, so they press a buzzer and turn in his direction. During the auditions stage, one judge who walks around is enough for the contestant to pass.
Before the audition Yuval shared how he started his musical career: “At the age of four I got a guitar from my uncle and since then I’ve been passionate about music. I love 80’s and 90’s rock but also reggae”.
One of the judges on the show is also the 2010 Eurovision winner, Lena Mayer-Landroth, although she did not turn up for the Jubilee, but she did express support for Israel after the audition: “I love Hebrew music very much. At Eurovision, I stood on stage with an Israeli singer named Harel Sekat. When he sang His song ‘Milim’ made me love Hebrew music.” She also told Yuval that she was happy that he “represents your culture in a good way”.
