The US is not happy with Israel’s previous statements regarding reports of mass graves in the Gaza Strip. The reports are “very disturbing,” National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said in Washington today. “We are in contact with the Israeli government on several levels. We want answers. We want to understand what exactly happened,” he said at a press conference.

The European Union has previously asked for an investigation into the matter. UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk called for “independent, effective and transparent investigations”.

On Monday, the Civil Defense Authority, which is controlled by the terrorist organization Hamas, said that around 200 bodies had been found in mass graves at Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza Strip over the past three days. Since the beginning of the war, many displaced civilians from the north have gathered there. Another 30 bodies are said to have been found at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, including women and children. They were buried under mountains of garbage.

The Israeli army denied being responsible for the mass graves. “The allegation that the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) buried Palestinian bodies is baseless and baseless,” the military said. The bodies were returned to their graves after the examination.
