Israel has stepped into the 23rd day of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continued their airstrikes and artillery attacks throughout the night. In a bid to intensify pressure on Hamas, the IDF also deployed additional ground forces into the Gaza Strip. However, this expansion of ground activities comes at a heavy cost, as casualties have been reported.

During an operation in the northern Gaza Strip, an IDF officer sustained serious injuries after being hit by an improvised explosive device (IED). Additionally, an IDF fighter was moderately injured during an encounter with terrorists.

Alongside the operations in Gaza, the IDF conducted activities in the territories of Judea and Samaria. Engineering and security forces destroyed the home of a prominent Hamas terrorist responsible for the fatal shooting attack in the Jordan Valley, which claimed the lives of Leah (Lucy) Dee and her daughters, Maya and Rini.

Despite a relatively calm night, tensions flared up again early this morning when red alarms were sounded in the Gaza Strip, followed by alerts in the Gush Dan and Sharon regions. At the same time, the northern border remains volatile, prompting IDF forces to retaliate after missiles were spotted landing in the Mount Dov area from Lebanese territory.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to Twitter during the night and claimed that he had not received any prior warnings about Hamas’ intentions for war. However, facing backlash, he deleted the tweet and apologized, expressing his full support for all heads of the security services.

As the conflict persists, the human toll continues to rise. Over 1,400 Israelis have been killed in battle, with more than 5,000 reported injuries. Disturbingly, the families of 230 abductees have also received distressing messages. Meanwhile, the Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health has updated the Palestinian death toll to 8,005, which includes over 3,000 children and more than 2,000 women since the war began.
