Israel’s parliament was dissolved last June to prepare for elections. Yair Labit was appointed as the interim Prime Minister as elections were announced in November.

In this case, as already announced, the general election was held in Israel yesterday. This is the 5th general election held in the last 4 years.

Voting started at 7 am local time and continued till 10 pm. Thousands of people waited in long queues at the polling stations since early morning and performed the democratic act. Voting was brisk, officials said.

Counting of votes started immediately after polling ended. The election results are expected to be announced today.

Poll results also suggest that former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has a high chance of becoming Prime Minister again in this election.
