ISS orbital altitude to be increased for filming movies

by time news

The ISS orbital altitude will be increased by 750 m before the arrival of the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft for filming the first feature film in space. This was reported in the press service of Roscosmos.

“The next correction of the ISS orbit altitude is planned for September 11,” said a representative of Roscosmos.

According to him, the height of the ISS orbit will be raised before the launch of the Soyuz MS-19 manned transport spacecraft and the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft landing to form ballistic conditions.

It is specified that the engines of the Earth module of the Russian segment of the station will turn on at 21:54 Moscow time and run for 31 seconds. Due to this, the average altitude of the station’s orbit will rise by 750 m.

Let us recall that the launch of the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft, on which the actress Yulia Peresild, as well as director Klim Shipenko and cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, will fly to the ISS for the first time, is scheduled for October 5. The filmmakers will return to Earth on October 17 together with cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky on the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft.
