In order to increase its infrastructure and serve more patients, the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (Issste) confirmed the upcoming opening of 6 new hospitals. In fact, it is the only public Institution with such an ambitious plan and the original plan is for all of them to start operating during the first quarter of 2024.
Where will the new ISSSTE hospitals be located?
In this regard, the general director of ISSSTE, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, said that the hospitals that are built with their own resources are: the HG in Tampico, Tamaulipas, with 150 census beds; the Regional Hospitals (HR) of Jalisco and Coahuila, with 250 beds each; the Hospital Clinics (CH) of Baja California Sur and Chiapas, with 20 beds each, and the one that will begin in Acapulco, Guerrero next month. They will have sufficient equipment and personnel, with the aim of improving medical care for the right holder.
The new medical unit in Tampico registers 23 percent progress and will benefit the population of Tamaulipas, the Huasteca of San Luis Potosí, Veracruz and Hidalgo. For this reason, two thousand 318 million pesos were allocated to build three buildings, two with five levels and one with four, in a total of 55 thousand 30 m2.
Work and housing proposals for interested doctors
Pedro Zenteno pointed out that the ISSSTE Housing Fund (Fovissste) it will offer credits to medical specialists who are interested in working at the institute. The purpose is that they have the possibility of acquiring a property and settle in the federal entities where the new hospitals are built, although the ideal is that they are natives of the place. In addition, they may participate to obtain a job-based position.
He commented that diagnostic equipment was acquired such as: CT scanners, mammographs and X-rays, which will be installed in hospitals, which will make it possible to reinforce prevention and detect a disease in time, to give adequate treatment and save lives. Likewise, the HG and the regional ones will have cancer center, radiotherapy, nuclear, family and physical medicine.
The general director of ISSSTE indicated that the new medical units will attend to the general population in case of a medical emergency, a substantive step to gradually integrate the Health sector and strengthen the institutions that have to do with social security.
These actions contribute to strengthening the health system in Mexico and guarantee equitable and quality access to medical services, since they will have a wide range of services, including outpatient areas, operating rooms, recovery rooms, intensive care units and specialized areas for different medical disciplines, he pointed out.
