ISSSTE could grant housing to recently graduated specialists

by time news
  • The director of ISSSTE proposed granting a Housing Fund (Fovissste) to all young people who have just completed their residency.
  • It also seeks that all Institute residents obtain a job position automatically upon completion of their specialty.
  • Currently only 40% of all applicants who present the ENARM obtain a place to pursue a residency.

A concern that many medical specialists have is being able to have their own assets such as a home and if you are part of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) then we have good news. Providing a service such as medical care implies a strong responsibility but at the same time there must also be fair retribution.

All the sacrifices that must be made to be a specialist doctor

In this sense, the Medicine degree is known to be the most extensive in the country. Its minimum duration is six years although in some universities it can reach 7 years. During this period, both the theoretical and the practical part must be seen. In addition, rotations must be made through the different areas of the hospitals and complete one year of social service.

When concluding with the above, the profession can be practiced as a general practitioner, although it is also possible to prolong the studies. Although it is not the only path, the most common is to take the National Examination for Applicants for Medical Residency (ENARM) to study a specialty.

In case of obtaining a place, it is necessary to start a new stage in which the double function of doctor and student must be carried out. It is not easy because the days are too long. At the end or even before it is time to start planning what you want to do with life.

Housing loans for specialists recently graduated from ISSSTE?

Based on this panorama, the general director of ISSSTE, Pedro Zenteno, Santaella, announced a new proposal for the benefit of recently graduated specialists. He reported that he has already requested an executive project from the Housing Fund (Fovissste) to analyze the possibility of giving loans to young people who have just completed their residency.

Similarly, he mentioned that another of his proposals is to offer permanent jobs to all specialists trained at ISSSTE. To date, many obtain a space at the end of the residency, but this does not happen with all.

Baja California tour

During the tour of the first level medical units in Baja California, he met with resident medical personnel of the General Hospital (HG) “Fray Junípero Serra”, to whom he commented that the goal is for specialists trained at ISSSTE —like the 780 graduates last February— to stay to work at the institute. For this reason, it is managed before the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) to guarantee the basis to encourage and motivate them to be part of the organization.

At HG “Fray Junípero Serra” —where 81,303 beneficiaries have coverage— the general director explained to the kitchen staff that maintenance work will be carried out and two refrigerators and a stove will be purchased.

Likewise, he visited the expansion areas delivered last year, which include: four operating rooms, a catheterization room, eight recovery beds, an intensive care unit and a coronary unit.

In Rosarito he supervised the Family Care Clinic (CAF) and instructed to analyze the feasibility of implementing an additional shift, since care is provided to 4,288 people.

When meeting with the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, they discussed the possibility of having a property or land to be donated to the institute and build a Family Medical Unit (UMF).

At the Mesa de Otay Family Medicine Clinic (CMF), which serves 80,631 beneficiaries, the patients expressed their concern to the general director about the lack of medicines, to which he responded that there is a national supply of 97 per percent, and in Baja California it is 95 percent, but work is being done to reach one hundred percent.

After touring the facilities, he asked the clinic staff to carry out a real analysis of the needs for both equipment and personnel, to free up resources and invest them in a laboratory, since they have the space for it.
