He Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (Issste) is ready to make history by building a total of six hospitals in record time (480 days) for the benefit of five million 123 thousand beneficiaries. This was expressed by its general director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, during the sixth supervision visit to the construction of the General Hospital (HG) of Tampico, Tamaulipas.

For construction in the states of Jalisco, Guerrero, Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Baja California Sur and Chiapas, the Issste invests 12 billion 570 thousand 81 million pesos of its own resources, with the so-called “turnkey” scheme. It means that the same company that carries out the work is also responsible for the equipment, thus guaranteeing that it is delivered working at 100 percent.

He added that, to have the ideal workforce, work is already underway on hiring to fill the positions of medical staff. Furthermore, the Executive Committee of the Issste Housing Fund (Fovissste) has already approved the agreement to provide housing credits to specialists who decide to work in one of the six new medical units.

780 specialists and subspecialists graduated from the Issste. The intention is to provide job security and a loan for housing that can reside in medium-sized cities like Tampico, where the quality of life is different and to end the deficit that exists in this area.

Characteristics of the new hospitals

The HG Tampico will benefit 600 thousand beneficiaries of the Huasteca of San Luis Potosí, Veracruz and Hidalgo. It will have 150 census beds. It is 30 percent complete and two thousand 318 million 61 thousand pesos will be invested to build four buildings, with a total of 55 thousand 30 m2 of construction.

The six hospitals will add 940 new census beds, something that has not happened in the Issste for 40 years.

The Regional Hospital (HR) of Torreón, Coahuila, with an investment of three thousand 28 million 63 thousand pesos, is 43.08 percent complete. There will be 250 census beds and it will benefit one million 284 thousand beneficiaries with services in 36 medical specialties to patients, not only from the entity, but also from Chihuahua, Durango and part of Zacatecas.

The HR of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco will provide service to 2.5 million members of the entity, Aguascalientes, Colima, Michoacán, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas, for which it will house 250 census beds, 35 specialties, highlighting oncological treatment. Two thousand 955 million 13 thousand pesos were allocated for this work and it registers 27.97 percent progress.

A Hospital Clinic (CH) with 20 census beds is also being built in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. The progress is 30.37 percent. It will offer care to 40 thousand patients, for which 509 million 73 thousand pesos are invested.

For the CH of Palenque, Chiapas, 515 million 20 thousand pesos are allocated, it will have 20 census beds and will cover 69 thousand people from the municipalities of Palenque, Salto de Agua, Yajalón and Ocosingo. It is 23.02 percent complete and will have a hemodynamics module and tomograph.

The director of the Issste recalled that these five medical units will be delivered in the first quarter of 2024, while the one in Acapulco, Guerrero, in which three thousand 243 million 51 thousand pesos have been arranged, will have 250 census beds to provide coverage for 630 thousand members; It will be delivered equipped and 100 percent functioning in August next year.

Likewise, he reported that diagnostic equipment such as tomographs, mammograms and there will be nuclear, family and physical medicine, an oncology center and radiotherapy.
