The Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (Issste), through the ECOS strategy for the Welfare reported that it offers free of charge to the entire male population, whether or not they are beneficiariesthe new no-scalpel vasectomy sessions, which will take place on August 29 and 30.
With the aim of promoting the universal access and quality to the sexual health and reproductive health, the Institute indicated that this procedure is a simple surgical technique, does not require hospitalization, does not affect sexual performance, and does not represent any harm to health. In view of this, the Medical Direction from the Issste reported that 842 patients have benefited from January to June.
This practice is part of the strategy of the Government of Mexico so that all people, regardless of their age, education, social level, sexual orientation, ethnicity or culture, can access prevention services related to sexual health.
Likewise, the Issste He stressed that this type of operation is 99.7% effective against unwanted pregnancies. However, it does not prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), human papillomavirus (HPV), among others.
For this reason, he recommended that people who maintain an active sexual life opt for this method of definitive family planning and maintain the use of male or female condoms.
The first intensive day of no-scalpel vasectomy will be held in the modules of Family Planning from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. hours in various medical units.
