ISSSTE will replace the elevators of 46 medical units

by time news
  • The ISSSTE director assured that there are elevators that are up to 50 years old and therefore have already fulfilled their useful life.
  • Poor infrastructure conditions not only harm patients but also health workers themselves.
  • The resources have also made it possible to purchase state-of-the-art equipment such as new MRIs and CT scanners.

The main objective of any medical unit is to provide service to its patients, although care for its own elements cannot be overlooked either. It is not only about the correct supply of medicines but also the quality of its facilities. With this in mind, the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE) unveiled a solution for broken elevators that proliferate throughout the country.

ISSSTE will replace 46 hospital and clinic elevators

As part of the actions to remodel and replace equipment in medical units, the Institute’s general director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, reported that 46 elevators will be replaced in clinics and hospitals in the country. Everything will be thanks to the release of financial resources.

During his work tour of Baja California, he pointed out that the elevators of some ISSSTE hospitals are between 30 and 50 years old. For the same reason, he said that they have already completed their useful life. In the same way, he indicated that now it would cost more to maintain them than to change them.

In the case of Baja California, the hospitals that will benefit from this renovation are: “Fray Junípero Serra”, from Tijuana, and “5 de Diciembre”, in Mexicali. The latter will also have a 128-slice magnetic resonator and computed tomograph. In this way, 226,159 beneficiaries of the state will benefit.

Purchase of new state-of-the-art medical equipment

With these teams, Baja California patients will avoid traveling to other hospitals and even to Mexico City. Additionally, 12 ambulances were distributed in the entity.

The magnetic resonator allows diagnosing various problems such as: aneurysms of the vessels of the brain, disorder of the eye and inner ear. Also multiple sclerosis, spinal cord disorders, stroke, tumors, traumatic brain injury, heart chamber size and functions, among others.

As he continued his tour of the state, Pedro Zenteno visited the Tecate Family Medicine Unit (UMF), where the expansion works began at the end of 2021, but stopped in March 2022, for which reason the legal area was instructed to review the status and seek a solution as soon as possible to reactivate them. This unit provides service to 7,683 beneficiaries.

As a last point, the CEO supervised the expansion of the Ensenada Hospital Clinic, as well as the Pediatric area, which is being equipped and will provide service in a month. It is important to note that work in operating rooms is also suspended here, a situation that will be examined and resolved to prevent patients from transferring to other hospitals.

In each of the visits to the emergency, outpatient, pharmacy, archive, laboratory, laundry, kitchen, dining room, warehouse, hemodialysis, and operating theater areas, Pedro Zenteno spoke with medical, administrative, and beneficiary personnel, to whom he expressed that his visits They are to learn first-hand about the problems and seek solutions in the short, medium and long term.
