A three-day meeting of forty of the most influential representatives of European banks took place in Zurich, Switzerland, at the end of October last year.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, the Financial Times wrote about this.

It is noted that the meeting was organized by an influential but little-known organization – the International Institute of Banking Studies (IIEB). The FT claims that this is a very secret club for European financiers, in which bank heads meet with country leaders – kings, presidents, prime ministers, as well as representatives of central banks.

“This is not Davos, where everyone can buy a membership,” said one of the meeting participants.

The IIEB Club was founded in 1950 in Paris as a place for the heads of Europe’s largest banks to discuss mergers and acquisitions and global policy-making. Events are held in luxury hotels and palaces.

It is emphasized that the club does not have its own website, and the topics of meetings and sessions are not recorded. Participants of the meeting are advised not to talk about its contents.
