IT employees who refuse to come to the office: IT companies in trouble!

by time news
A survey conducted by CIEL HR Services has revealed that 88 percent of the employees who are working in the IT sector are ready to leave the company they are currently working for. It seems that this problem has arisen because the current practice of working from home has ended and people are asked to come to the office to work.

Before the Corona period, going to the office to work was a very common and normal event. But for these two and a half years, many employees who have been paralyzed at home due to the corona virus have been given facilities to work from home, and for the past two years, all the employees have been working from home.

Currently, various companies are forcing their employees to come to the office and work while the corona virus is gradually decreasing. But employees prefer to work from home for their independence and to spend time with family. A new survey has revealed that if forced to come to the office, they are ready to leave their jobs.

The survey for this purpose was conducted by a staffing services company called Cial HR Services. The survey was conducted in early October of 1000 employees from 19 leading IT companies.

It has been revealed that almost 88 percent of IT employees are ready to leave their current job. 46 percent of workers are mothers who manage households or are caregivers who care for children or the elderly. So working from home is a huge boon for them. They said that they are able to get paid on time and spend time with their families.

They have also said that unnecessary expenses will be reduced. The remaining 46 percent said that they would be willing to move to other companies if they got a higher salary than what they are currently paying. The remaining eight percent of employees said they would be willing to quit if they were forced to come to the office to work. Due to this, their freedom and hobbies are affected and they feel that they are bound by the employers.

Apart from that they said that the travel time taken for traveling from home to office and from office to home is unnecessary and they prefer to do any other useful work of their choice in that time. Aditya Mishra, chief executive officer of Cial, which conducted the survey, said that employees feel that their freedom and lifestyle will be affected if they come to work mainly in the office.

And this threat of employees to “walk off the job” does not affect the employers or the organization at large. Because if they quit their jobs when jobs are dwindling, there are many people lining up to fill that position at lower wages than them. Also, due to the global economic recession, employment has decreased drastically.

Speaking about this, Anil Ethanur, the co-founder of Expeno, said, “Until a few months ago, due to the impact of Corona, the law may have been to keep employees. But now the situation is different. At present, the vacancies are less and the number of job seekers is very high. So in the present situation the employer who offers the job will be the law. Various companies have already instructed their employees to work in the office full-time or in a hybrid mode where they only come to the office a few days a week.

As a result, the employees’ desire to work from home full time is less likely to be fulfilled, he said. He said that if he threatens to leave the job if he is asked to come to the office, it will affect the employees but not the employers.

Not only that, IT companies are facing various challenges in providing work from home facilities in the current environment. On the one hand existing jobs are not going well and the number of new projects available has reduced significantly. On the other hand, employees fear that the productivity of their company will decrease due to moonlighting, the practice of working in two companies at the same time. Mishra said.

However, many leading IT companies have already asked their employees to visit the office. In that, HCL tech has invited its employees to come to the office only three times a week.. Ramachandran Sundarrajan, the company’s chief people officer, said that they will take the above measures based on the results of the second quarter of this year and how this culture called Hybrid is working for their company.

TCS employees have already been called to the office thrice a week. Only Infosys has allowed its employees to work from home. It also said that they can come to the office and work if they want. Also, it is profitable for the company, and since this system benefits both the employer and the employee, there is no benefit in forcing their employees to come to the office unnecessarily.

“Coming to the office and working” may be the easiest for local people. But during this Corona period, various employees have migrated to their hometowns. So coming back to their office can be challenging and difficult. Experts say that they will have to start all over again with new accommodation, new expenses and a fresh start.

Ramesh Alluri Reddy, Director, Adecco India, said, “As mentioned above, various companies require people to come to the office at least three times a week, and this has created a lot of dissatisfaction among employees. From the management’s point of view, their remote working culture is slowly taking control.” He has said that he is afraid of losing and not having proper production capacity.
