(24 News) Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party and Advocate Farooq H. Naik says that we have to see whether the Constitutional Court is against the independence of the judiciary or not, if not, then the Constitutional Court must be established.

Speaking at a meeting of lawyers’ representative organizations, Farooq H. Naik said that the Constitution is a living document, not a dead one, a living document means that changes can take place in it. There are constitutional courts in the countries too, the establishment of the constitutional court is a need of time, criminal and civil cases are pending in the Supreme Court, the law minister is requested to finalize the draft and share it with Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar. .

Farooq H. Naik further said that we want a good idea not to be wasted, I do not understand why the establishment of the Constitutional Court was not made a part of the Eighteenth Amendment, I would like us to form a committee and the government should share the draft with us. Let us complete the establishment of the Constitutional Court in consultation with all the stakeholders, the committee should prepare a draft that is for the survival of the nation, democracy and the country. If we had asked for suggestions before the preparation, this would not have been necessary today.
