“A very sad sight. I don’t know what provoked this acrimony between the trade organizations themselves. In my opinion, including the approach of selectively talking to some of them, which for me was a mistake. The situation among our producers and the various industries is such that it is best to talk to everyone”.

This was commented to BNR by GERB deputy Desislava Taneva – chairman of the parliamentary agricultural committee and former minister of agriculture.

“I don’t know which bottle was opened that in practice there was this battle, above all between the branch organizations, which will not lead to anything good. Is this some kind of battle to win the representation of the agricultural community – no, you can’t have any representation to win, apart from continuing acrimony between the representatives of branch organizations themselves. And at the same time continuing and superimposing new and new problems among the farmers themselves,” she commented.

According to her, in this way, public disapproval of the policy towards the agricultural sector accumulates, because it is based on financial support. And called:

“Make the public want to support the agricultural sector because the day will come when any finance minister or prime minister will be put in a position of impossibility to support, even if it is fair, just because of public sentiment towards the sector”.

“If the monitoring of the implementation of the new agreement will work like the monitoring of the implementation of the memorandum – it is a matter of perspective that it will be implemented,” said the deputy from GERB.
Regarding the demands of the farmers for the Law on Branch Organizations, Taneva expressed her opinion:

“I don’t think that the chances have increased after the failed attempts that were back in time. On the contrary. This polarization, this acrimony between the very representatives of individual organizations makes such a process difficult.”

While we are fighting how to settle the Law on Branch Organizations and how our organization is the most representative, the problems among farmers are deepening, the chairman of the line committee in the parliament categorically stated. According to her, it is frivolous to single out the branch organizations and their representativeness as the biggest problem.

The law on the ownership and use of agricultural lands is undoubtedly of the greatest importance, the deputy emphasized in an interview for the show “Before All”. According to her, this is the basic law, as well as the one to support farmers. According to her, the changes in the Lease Law are also a point of conflict. The high rent is a problem, Taneva reported and added, however, that she does not see a legally permissible mechanism by which the state can directly intervene in the amount of the rent.

“Rather, the problems should be looked for in the genesis of the exercise of this considerable influence in the lands, namely, the volume of agricultural land that you can own to trade. If you do not offer 1/3 of the land for rent, there is no way to impose and non-market rent prices”.
