This competition, held for the sixteenth time, aims to present and evaluate to the public the projects financed by EU funds that bring the greatest value to the person, the country, and the state.
Initiative partner news portal lrytas.lt invites you to familiarize yourself with the project rules, published nominations and evaluation criteria.
Participants will compete and be awarded in seven “European Sails 2024” nominations:
- For investments in innovative solutions. With this award, attention is drawn to companies that implement new technologies in their activities, invest in processes and the development of new products and services.
- For investments in a sustainable environment. The category evaluates solutions that improve the quality of life and save the environment and energy. The nomination is intended for projects in which EU investments are directed to the beautification of the public environment, infrastructure renewal, as well as renewable energy solutions and adaptation to the needs of modern people. Projects that already contribute to the idea of the “European Green Deal” are especially welcome.
- For investing in a modern school. Projects are evaluated, during which new educational process tools were developed, modern distance education systems were implemented, and STEAM activities were integrated into educational subjects. As well as all solutions that encourage creativity in school.
- For investments in modern medicine. Projects that offered more advanced technological solutions for medicine, complex health care services for families and society are eligible for the award.
- For investing in people. Projects that used EU investments purposefully and efficiently to create social initiatives are nominated. For everything that increases the variety of human possibilities and improves the quality of his life.
- For investing in community. The nomination is intended for projects that have successfully increased communication between residents, involved community members in the pursuit of common goals and active social life.
- For investments in innovations in business. This nomination seeks non-traditional small business projects that create products, brands or services that have not been seen in the market before.
Terms and Conditions of European Sails 2024:
1. Projects funded/financed (at least 51% of the results) under the following three EU fund programs can participate in the competition: 2014-2020 Investment action program of European Union funds. 2021-2027 Investment program of European Union funds. “New generation Lithuania” economic recovery and resilience plan;
2. Those wishing to participate in the competition are invited to fill out the project registration form by 2024. August 11 11:59 p.m.;

4. The project does not necessarily have to be completed, but must have successfully implemented the majority (more than 51%) of its activities and/or have a clear result;
5. Project funds must be used transparently and properly, the project and its executor must have an impeccable reputation, not raising doubts for the public and partners;
6. Projects that started no earlier than 2014 can participate in the competition. January 1;
7. The project has never received the “European Sails” award.
Evaluation criteria and commission for the “European Sails 2024” competition
The applications of the contestants will be assessed by an evaluation committee made up of impartial experts and well-known public representatives in accordance with the evaluation criteria in an individual evaluation (points are awarded during the evaluation). In the two nominations that will receive the most participant questionnaires, an additional nomination “Lrytas.lt readers’ favorite” will be established.
From August 4 to 19, readers will be able to vote for their favorite projects through online voting.
“European Sails 2024” evaluation criteria: novelty, originality of the project; compliance of the project with the needs of the target groups and the content of the nomination; value of the project for sustainability and sustainability; continuity and impact of project results; effectiveness, necessity of the project.
Winners’ awards, publicity Contest participants will be presented to the general public on the news portal lrytas.lt.
The winners of the competition will be announced at the festive event and on the lrytas.lt portal. The awards for the best projects of the “European Sails 2024” competition and a celebratory event are planned for 2024. on September 18, in Kaunas. Nominees will be notified personally.
