Sydney,
The Australian cricket team is touring India to play 4 Tests and 3 ODIs. The first Test match between India and Australia will start on 9th in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Usually, before such important series, the respective domestic cricket boards arrange for the foreign teams to play practice matches to acclimatize and prepare themselves for the environment here. But the Australian team did not play any practice match in India before the start of the current Test series. The Australian Cricket Board has already said that it is not necessary for them. Australia’s star batsman Steven Smith told reporters yesterday:-
Usually we play two practice games in England. But this time there is no practice match in India. Last time we played on Indian soil, they gave us a grassy fastball pitch in the practice match. So he didn’t face spin as much. That practice game was of no use. Because Indian pitches are spin friendly. There is no training ground for it. So the decision not to play practice matches in India is right. Instead, let’s train the spinners as much as possible in the net practice and get ready.
The Indian Test series is definitely huge. Will India go all the way to win the Test series? I don’t know that. I have never won a Test series here. I have been there twice for the Test series. Playing on Indian soil is always tough. Some challenges await us. The players are ready to face it.
Sumit said.
The pitches in Sydney in Australia are as good for spin as those in India. SG on that pitch with certain explosions. Australian players left for India yesterday, who were training in the type of ball.
In India, the initial phase of training takes place at the Karnataka Cricket Association ground in Alur, a suburb of Bengaluru. After completing a 4-day training camp here, they will leave for Nagpur on the 6th.
