Major Petko Dimitrov has repeatedly performed such maneuvers, it is impossible for me to believe that he made a mistake. This was stated by o.z. Col. Assoc. Dr. Eng. Valentin Kirov.
Bulgaria continues to mourn the two pilots, Major Petko Dimitrov and Senior Lieutenant Ventsislav Dunkin, who died in a plane crash at the Graf Ignatievo Air Base on Friday. Colonel Kirov tells about them.
“Senior Lieutenant Dunkin and I knew each other from his cadet years. I taught him one of the most serious disciplines – flight safety. The maneuvers he performed were part of my lectures. I also taught his brother,” he says.
Their last meeting was about a month ago. “We exchanged a few words, and Major Dimitrov and I greeted each other. “As a student, Dunkin was beyond his years. At the same time, however, he was a typical 20-year-old boy with all the characteristics of youth. For them, the sea is not up to their knees, but up to their ankles,” Prof. Kirov added NOVA.
The two are proven professionals both in theory and in practice, Prof. Kirov shares.
“They are exceptional professionals, dedicated to the sky and their dreams to the end. Major Petko Dimitrov is an exceptional pilot and instructor. I have no doubt in his abilities. With airplanes, processes develop in fractions of a second, no one is immune from mistakes. During such demonstrations there is always overstretching. This should not be a reason, the major has performed such maneuvers many times, it is impossible for me to believe that he made a mistake,” the colonel added.
And he calls: “I beg all politicians and ministers, let us be silent and honor their memory. These are people who tried to fulfill the task in the best way, despite the care of politicians and their help. They came to learn to fly and they have achieved it”.
