The Ministry of Health says that the COVID-19 vaccines that have already been procured cannot be fully used up.

The ministry said it was due to the release of more effective vaccines.

About 10 percent of the vaccines in stock in Singapore are out of date.

Adequate measures have been taken to minimize wastage of vaccines. One of them is donating them to countries with the greatest need for vaccines.

At the same time, the ministry replied to a question asked by reporters that the cooperation of its manufacturers has also been sought to extend the shelf life of the vaccines in stock.

The ministry also said it could not provide detailed information due to contractual obligations.

The ministry also explained Singapore’s approach to procuring COVID-19 vaccines.

Vaccination is the primary line of defense against COVID-19 infection. The ministry also said it has procured vaccines early to ensure Singaporeans have access to enough vaccines.

As of Monday (Oct 24), 92% of Singapore’s total population had been vaccinated against COVID-19.

79 percent had received additional vaccinations.
