In a video published by the negotiating delegation of the National Liberation Army (ELN), Nicolás Rodríguez Bautista, alias Gabino, expressed his support for the mobilization and organization of the people in support of the Government.

In the video, shared on the Vk platform and replicated in other media, Gabino talks with Israel Ramírez Pineda, alias Pablo Beltrán, about the importance of citizen participation in the peace process with the guerrilla. He highlighted the need for society to demonstrate in the streets to demand the changes and reforms promised by President Petro during his electoral campaign in 2022.

«We agree with the Government on the importance of mobilizing and organizing the people based on specific issues of reforms and immediate needs.but with an important projection,” Gabino stated in the video, titled “What would Camilo tell us?… 58 years,” in which the legacy of Father Camilo Torres, martyr of the guerrilla, is discussed.

The guerrilla leader emphasized that the active participation of society is fundamental in the peace process and it must be the people who have the voice and decide the path to follow.

Prior to these statements, Gabino and Pablo Beltrán debated the legacy of Camilo Torres and the validity of the armed struggle today. Gabino stated that, If he were alive, Torres would continue validating the armed rebellion of the people as a right.or, arguing that other paths of transformation have not managed to empower the Colombian people as he conceived.

“It is the force of the people, in the street, in the events of the outbreak of 19, 20, 21, that forces the ruling classes to understand that Colombia needs changes and that it is the popular force that is imposing these changes ”said Pablo Beltrán.
