The Libyan Technocrats Gathering stressed that it is not possible to build on the impossible consensus between the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State, on a constitutional basis and applicable electoral laws.

This came in a statement by the group on the political developments and repercussions, a copy of which was obtained by “Ain Libya”.

The statement said, “The Political Bureau of the Libyan Technocrats Gathering, the serious and successive repercussions of the situation in the country, and the repeated political consumables and contradictory initiatives presented to us, are leading the country and our people to a dangerous fate.”

The group also stressed that it is not possible to build on waiting for decisive intervention by the so-called international community – through a state or regional and international organizations – to end the Libyan conflict.

The statement added that it is not possible to build on achieving national reconciliation through the work of the Presidential Council and the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya, and that it is not possible to build on the faltering efforts of the United Nations Support Mission to Libya and its staff who are negatively interfering in Libyan political affairs.

The group continued in its statement: “Based on the above, it is necessary to warn with the utmost degree of the danger of the path of dividing the country, which has been completed politically, administratively and militarily, and has reached the stage of dividing the country financially, in preparation for the establishment of a disintegrated state with no sovereignty or wealth.”

The statement pointed out the need to warn that weakening or eliminating the authority of the state, and the control of the parties to the conflict instead, makes empowering the constitutional institutions of the state impossible, no matter how they are changed.

The group also warned in its statement of the repercussions of the escalation of the conflict, the expansion of division, the strength of foreign interventions, confusion in the concepts of decentralization, the increase in laxity and indifference, and the spread of political dependence on international parties, which constitute factors that impose the necessity of accelerating the withdrawal of the national issue file and handing it over to the people.

The Libyan Technocrats Gathering concluded its statement by stressing that the correct step that can be built upon to save the country is to hold a national referendum to approve the permanent constitution, which the Libyan people choose and to which everyone submits.
