The three Vox councilors in El Casar, a town in Guadalajara where the far-right formation is part of the government in coalition with the PP and with the ‘With You We Are Democracy’ formation headed by a former Citizen, have addressed the neighbors through social networks this Saturday to communicate their disagreement with the fact that there is a Violet Point in the local festivities of the municipality and the district of Mesones.

The Local Women’s Council criticizes the “partisan interest” of Vox
The statement from the far-right party has received a response from the local Women’s Council for Equality, which is made up of the ALCE Art-Therapy Women’s Association, the AFAMMER Women’s Association, the Candelas Women’s Association, the AMPA Los Arenales from CEIP María Montessori, the AMPA Maestros from El Casar, the AMPA from IES Juan García Valdemora, the AMPA from IES La Campiña, the Violencia Machista 0 Association, Cáritas, the Red Cross, as well as all the volunteers of the project.

They are, they recall, volunteers who “dedicate their time generously to raising awareness and preventing sexual assaults and collaborating with potential victims, following the action protocol, in coordination with the local police, civil guard, health center and civil protection, to give them the support they need and, for this, they are duly trained”.

They address in particular the Councilor for Security, Camilo Gil. “We demand that you promote protection and security every day of the year and take charge of doing your job” because, they add, “what we need are councilors who respect civil society, and who do their job for the benefit of all people, since a government not only represents its partisan interests, it must represent all of the citizens, instead of dividing it”.
“The Violet Point is a vital tool in the fight against gender violence and in promoting a festive environment, where all people can enjoy without fear of aggression or discrimination,” explains the Local Women’s Council.
And they offer some data, including that registered crimes against sexual freedom increased by 13% in 2022 in Spain compared to 2021, a figure that, in the case of penetrative sexual assaults, rose to 33.9%. There were 17,389 crimes against sexual freedom in 2022 (an increase of 28.4% since 2019), 2,870 crimes of sexual assault with penetration and 14,519 other crimes against sexual freedom (9.6% more than in 2021 and 24 .4% more since 2019).
“With all this data, we believe that the need to create a Violet Point and any type of initiative that fights against sexist attacks is justified, more than enough.”
