Kuwait City: It is reported that 178,919 expatriates left Kuwait in 2022. This was reported by local media based on statistics. Statistics released by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) show that 17,891 expatriates aged 60 and above who are graduates have left the country because they could not pay the 800 dinar fee.

The number of expatriate workers aged 60 and above increased from 122,536 in mid-2021 to 104,645 in mid-2022. The number of university graduates dropped from 155,665 in mid-2021 to 146,942 in mid-2022. Additionally, the number of post-graduates also declined from 7,213 in mid-2021 to 6,912 in mid-2022.

The total number of expatriate workers in the middle of the year 2022 was 2718803. In 2021 their number was around 2897522. That means approximately 178,919 expatriates left Kuwait permanently within a year.

According to the latest statistics from the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), the workforce in the public sector is around 483,200 employees. 372,800 of them are Kuwaitis. This comes to a total of 77 percent. 110,400 people are expatriates.

The total number of people employed in the public and private sectors in Kuwait is approximately 1.91 million. 75 percent of them work in the private sector and the remaining 25 percent work in the public sector.
