Şahin Hajiyev, an activist of the Ganja city organization of the Azerbaijan People’s Front Party (APFP), was detained in prison for 15 days in Penal Institution No. 6 and was put in prison for another 10 days.
“Defense Line” human rights organization reported on this.
According to the information, the reason why Shahin Hajiyev, who is known as a political prisoner, was put in solitary confinement for the first time was that he wrote the words “I am innocent” and “election show” on the back of his jacket and shirt.
“After the term of the first “deaf” was over, the management of the penitentiary asked him the following question: “Have you come to your senses?” Shahin Hajiyev immediately criticized the current administration. In response to this, the PFLP activist was declared “deaf” for another 10 days, “Defense Line” reports.
For its part, the Penitentiary Service has not yet responded to the request for information from Defense Line.
Shahin Hajiyev, an activist of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, was sentenced to 6 years in prison on March 31, 2022 by the Ganja Serious Crimes Court.
The court found Hajiyev guilty under Article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code (illegal trafficking of large amounts of narcotics).
Shahin Hajiyev disagreed with the court’s verdict and said that he is completely innocent.
The Azerbaijan People’s Front Party is sure that the real reason for the arrest of the activist is related to his critical writings against the authorities on social networks.
In turn, law enforcement agencies do not accept what is said about ordered arrest. Law enforcement officials say people make such statements in self-defense.
