Saudi Society for Geosciences President Dr. Abdullah Al Amri said that there are currently more than 2,000 volcanic craters in Saudi Arabia.

One part of these craters is in eastern Saudi Arabia and the other part is in Hail, Harat Al Hatima and Harat Khaibar in the west. The last volcanic eruption in Saudi Arabia occurred in 1256 in Madinah. It lasted for 53 days. The source of the Madinah volcanic eruption was in the ocean. Dr. Abdullah Al Amri said that the signs of this are still present at Madina Airport.
