Saudi Arabia affirmed that “talking about half-measures in the Gaza Strip is ridiculous.”
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said, in his intervention during one of the sessions of the World Economic Forum held in Riyadh: The Gaza Strip needs 30 years to rebuild after the Israeli war, and removing the rubble takes 15 years.
He said: “The Palestinian crisis has entered its seventh month and we are still discussing the issue of whether humanitarian trucks enter Gaza. This is unacceptable.”
Bin Farhan added: “Any expansion of military operations in Gaza will lead to serious consequences.”
He said: “The situation is very difficult, and there is a possibility that it will expand, and we are facing a major expansion in military operations in Gaza. The situation in Gaza is a disaster in every sense of the word, and a failure of the current global political system. It is a humanitarian disaster, and we want a ceasefire and dealing with the consequences of the conflict.” .
The Saudi Foreign Minister added: “It is in the interest of the Palestinians, the Israelis, the United Nations, the region, and the international community to find a solution to the Palestinian issue, avoid the suffering that occurred in Gaza, and not repeat this war.”
The Saudi official continued: “We cannot return to the same situation after two or three years, and we do not want to focus on the current crisis in Gaza only, and the focus must be on the two-state solution.”
Bin Farhan stressed, “Talking about half-measures and the fate of 2.5 million people in the Gaza Strip without making sure that the war will not be repeated is ridiculous, and anyone who follows this approach is wrong.”
He said: “We must move from words to actions, and this is what I will discuss with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. We need steps on the ground and the matter cannot be left to the conflicting parties.”
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is scheduled to arrive in Saudi Arabia today, to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip.
