It lasted 411 days.. A British man recovered from Corona, after recording the longest infection period in the world

A 59-year-old British man has recovered from Corona, after being infected with the virus for 411 days, the longest period recorded and his owner has survived so far.

The patient contracted an early form of the virus and was unable to eliminate the infection due to a weakened immune system after the kidney transplant.

The patient tested positive for the first time in 2020, and despite the loss of symptoms, tests continued to appear positive until 2022.

Medics used genetic analysis to determine that the man carried an early variant of the original Wuhan strain of the virus that emerged in December 2019.

The same team also treated a patient with an underlying health condition, who died after testing positive for 505 days.

More than 625 million people around the world have been infected with the emerging coronavirus, and scientists and researchers around the world continue their research and experiences on everything related to the virus and ways to fight it and reduce short and long-term side effects.

Since the start of the pandemic, the World Health Organization has reported more than 6.5 million deaths. These numbers are an underestimate.
