Dark humor has a good back. The board game Quandmemes, whose principle is based on this type of humor, is accused of propaganda of rape culture on social networks. And for good reason, the game published by Amosdee prohibited for children under 16 and labeled as “transgressive”, simply goes too far.

On paper, the principle can make you smile. The player has six cards in hand with written propositions, all in the following form: “When…”. An image is then unveiled, the goal is to attach the phrase that makes the game master the most laughter. But between rather soft proposals: “When you are asked what you want to do after your studies”, “When you have a conversation at 3 and the other two are just talking to each other”, “When you’re in a relationship but you have a crush every 10 minutes”, hide other much more problematic phrases…

Among the 220 cards offered, three really exceed the limits and are accused of spreading rape culture : “When he changes hole not on purpose “, “When she begs you not to finish in her”, “When you get sucked, that you are going to enjoy, but that you do not warn her”. If the game claims to be “not politically correct”, these proposals have angered Internet users after the tweet seen over a million times of a former candidate in the legislative elections, Noé Petit.

“When you catch AIDS…”

“I discovered Quandmemes in a gambling bar. There are a lot of cards, most of them more or less funny, to be taken literally, but some go way beyond the limits, which poses a real problem. Even without alcohol we re-read 2 or 3 times to be sure, and unfortunately we are not dreaming. This is indeed what is written”, tells us the activist Nupes who has also kept eight cards from the game which he considers problematic.

Among these other cards, we find: “When you catch AIDS but realize that you can give it to all the people you hate”, “When, after flirting with you all evening, she tells you that she’s on her period,” “When you’re already on your 15th date and he still won’t fuck you. »

In the comments, many Internet users are already calling for the withdrawal of the game and claim to have contacted Asmodee’s customer service. Proof of this is that we did the test several times, we came across the switchboard’s messaging service because of too many calls.

This controversy is reminiscent of the debates around other black humor games like Blanc Manger Coco, Limite Limite or Juduku, but these three games did not go so far, especially concerning rape. Last November, Fnac had withdrawn for some time from its shelves the game “Antifa” which offers players to embody a group of anti-fascists, a movement some of whose members are accused of violent acts.

This time, the “Quandmemes” is not officially removed from the shelves, but it is out of stock or unavailable for sale in stores or online in the biggest sales chains. Contacted several times, Asmodee editions did not wish to respond to our requests.
