This afternoon, an Air Europa plane that left our Luque airport bound for Madrid was apparently hit by a bird on one of its turbines.

The plane suffered mechanical failures and the pilot decided to land again at Silvio Pettirossi Airport with its 366 passengers.

On the flight were the Albirroja defender Fabián Balbuena, the APF sports director Justo Villar and six other players belonging to the Albirroja Sub 23, including Gatito Fernández, all to join the rest of the team already installed in Paris for the Olympics.

“It seemed like we were on one of the streets of Asunción, it moved a little, it seemed like we went through a rough patch,” the Albirrojo defender told Radio Ñanduti. “Unfortunately this is going to delay us a little bit from being with the team in Paris. But we are fine. Nothing more happened than that, it seemed like we were walking through the streets of Asunción for a while, and we are already used to those movements. This is the third time it has happened to me, that is why I said it was something normal,” added the player.

For his part, Justo Villar said that he did not feel bothered. “When we were taking off, it crashed (with a bird), we had to go up and spend 40 minutes in the air, to refuel and come back. That was it,” said the former goalkeeper of the national team.
