The patient who denounced the radiologist for sexual abuse during an exam mammography, followed by another gynecological one, at a clinic in Copacabana, south of Rio, made an outburst, this Thursday (2).
“I can’t eat, I didn’t sleep well after what happened. I don’t feel comfortable going to a male doctor, because just thinking about going in and having the door closed makes me feel bad. It was a trauma for me”, said the young woman.
Doctor Martinho Gomes de Souza Neto, 35 years old, was arrested red-handed in the 12th DP (Copacabana). According to the police, he was already subject of another investigation at Deam (Women’s Police Station) for a similar crime, in 2020.
The suspect will answer for sexual violation through fraud. The crime is non-bailable and carries a penalty of two to six years in prison.
The Cremerj (Rio Regional Medical Council) said it learned of the case from the press and is investigating the facts.
