/ The head of the Basra Football Association, Badr Nasser, revealed on Saturday the reason for not opening the Minaa Olympic Stadium (30,000 spectators) until now, despite its completion.

Nasser told Agency, “The reason for not opening the Minaa Stadium despite its completion is the executing company’s demand for the remaining dues owed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, amounting to two billion Iraqi dinars.”

He added, “The Ministry of Youth and Sports promised to pay the financial obligations, especially after the company completed the stadium’s requirements,” adding, “The stadium is ready with all its systems, including the ground, stands, and training grounds.”

The head of the Football Sub-Federation explained that “it is hoped that the stadium will host the Stars League matches in the upcoming rounds after the financial dues are delivered.”

Al Minaa Stadium, along with Palm Trunk Stadium, hosted matches of the 25th Gulf Cup earlier this year, with the participation of eight Gulf teams.
