Pooyapalli: The incident where a housewife died in a fire in Pooyapalli was found to be murder. Pooyappally police arrested Bijuvi (56), the driver of Pooyappally auto stand, in connection with the incident. The deceased was identified as Annamma, 52, wife of Biju.

Annamma’s was burnt at around 6 pm on the last 10 days. Annamma died on the 18th while undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. The brothers also accused the Kollam Rural Police Chief and Kottarakkara DySP of being mysterious in the death. Had also lodged a complaint.

The accused was arrested during a police investigation. Annamma, who was undergoing treatment at the hospital, testified before the magistrate that she was handcuffed. However, the complaint stated that her husband Biju had poured petrol on her and told her sisters who were staying in the hospital to take care of her.

Police say: On the 10th, Annamma, Biju and their three-year-old grandson went to the Kollam Welfare Fund office in Biju’s car.

When he returned, he bought alcohol. When he got home, he picked up the cloth lying on the terrace and slipped some mud on his mother’s feet. Biju made a fuss telling him to wash it immediately. Annamma said that she was very tired and could clean up after a while. However, Biju got into an argument with the baby and went to the car to buy petrol and set it on fire around his mother’s bed.

Annamma told the brothers that Biju would often brutally harass her and threaten to burn her with kerosene and did not try to escape on the pretext that it was just a threat.

Biju confessed to the police that he had bought petrol. Pump employees also told police that he had taken petrol from a bottle. Forensic examination revealed that petrol was the cause of the fire. Kottarakkara DySP The investigation was supervised by Suresh.
