It was not successful: EA’s tweet angered the gaming world

by time news

EA, Despite being one of the largest gaming companies in the world. The only area she does not always succeed in is when it comes to making the right decisions. Due to the company’s “decisions” in recent years, EA has twice won “America’s Worst Company”. Their attitude towards titles and the favorite games of gamers, does not always sit well with those customers. Among other things, their service model, including microtransactions especially in their sports games, has been harshly criticized.

As is well known, the company supports multiplayer games with the infamous “Live Service” model. While EA has no plans to change its tactics, EA’s official Twitter account has decided to joke about single-player games by using the popular “he / she 10” meme that was popular on TikTok recently. The tweet read: “They are 10 but they only like to play single player games”, and then the gates of hell opened.

While the tweet was only meant as a joke, many did not find it amusing and began to criticize the company. Many big names came into the wave and also expressed their opinions. The backlash was to such an extent that EA’s profile on Twitter was forced to accept the reviews. This tweet insults gamers who enjoy single-player titles, and it has upset many past and present developers working on EA games.

Respawn head Vince Zampala, even responded with a palm emoji. Not only is Zample responsible for the Battlefield franchise that includes the new single-player campaign developed at EA Seattle Studio, he also created the Titanfall series. The single player mode in the game is considered one of the best single player shooter campaigns in recent years, something that many critics agree on.

What’s most interesting, however, is the reaction of former design director Zack Mumbach of the Visceral Games studio. The company is credited with some of EA’s best-selling single-player games like Dead Space. In 2015 the studio was shut down by EA while developing a Star Wars action-adventure game code called the Ragtag Project. Hundreds of employees were laid off, with EA claiming it was because there was no more interest in single player games.

This unsuccessful tweet apparently opened up old wounds again. EA did not sincerely apologize for the tweet, but posted a follow-up post: “Definitely worthy of criticism, we will take this L (loss) because single player games are 11”. Not exactly the most professional response.

This comment from EA is so ironic because it owns the rights to some of the biggest single player games. It’s funny to think that EA, of all the big companies in the field have the audacity to say something like that given their past titles (both multiplayer and single player) were not exactly 10. There is no guarantee that playing with multiplayer will be a success. Just look at Battlefield 2042. This game eliminated the single player franchise mode to focus solely on a multiplayer game, and see how it turned out.
