Error for 1 p.m. news. The wrong order was published this Thursday during a report on tourists who stopped at Madeira airport during the 1 night television news on France 2, as Internet users quickly noticed. The channel team apologized for this “mistake” at the end of the newsletter.

The subject post mentions the fires in Madeira which are disrupting air traffic. In the report, the journalist pointed out that the violent winds that swept the islands forced the pilots to make very dangerous landings, “as these archive pictures show”. However, the sequence broadcast on television is not archival footage at all.

Internet users quickly noticed that the plane presented in the pictures… does not exist. In fact, it is an extract from the video game Flight Simulator, a realistic flight simulation.

The producer, Nathanaël de Rincquesen spoke at the end of the television news: “We talked to you a little earlier in this edition about the tourists who stopped at Madeira airport (…) In the middle of the plane the amazing landing images, a virtual image cut out. into our topic. This was an error and we apologize. »
