Zambelli gave statements admitting nod to the STF
Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), federal deputy, said this Thursday (23) that her political nod to the STF (Federal Supreme Court) was not synonymous with betrayal of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The parliamentarian’s speech was made after the former head of the Executive refuted some statements.
“I am not criticizing Bolsonaro. I really made a political nod to the STF, but that doesn’t mean I made an agreement with Moraes, and it wasn’t treason either,” said Zambelli in an interview with CNN.
She also pointed out that the changes verified in her speech were necessary because “it changed the reality of Brazil”. The parliamentarian also said that she previously defended the impeachment of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, but now she has changed her view.
“[…] If we take Alexandre de Moraes out today, who will put a new minister in place? It’s President Lula. I have no appreciation in knowing that I am going to remove Alexandre de Moraes and put another person indicated by Lula. I think maybe replacing a person who already knows what we can expect, rather than a person who will enter without any shame and with much more time ahead of the Supreme, “he said.
Zambelli x Bolsonaro
In an interview given to Folha de S.Paulo, Carla Zambelli stated that Bolsonaro’s speeches may have encouraged supporters’ coup-like behavior, but reiterated that the ‘conducts’ must be individualized. In her view, Bolsonaro cannot be held responsible for the actions of his followers.
She also said that she no longer has the mission to defend Bolsonaro, but stressed that she will strongly oppose Lula.
“I had the role of defending Bolsonaro and the government, anyone who attacked them had to become my target. In this legislature, Bolsonaro is no longer president, so our target has to be Lula, his deeds and misdeeds”, said the deputy.

She also pointed out that she sought out Alexandre de Moraes because she “expected” to be arrested by the Federal Police.
“I called and sent an email. A few days later, my network was returned, it could have been a gesture. I’m at his disposal to talk. Because he’s going to be a PT target in a little while. The PT won’t be content with indicate only the two ministers who are going to retire,” said the parliamentarian.
