“It will lead to an intifada”: retired police officers called for the ouster of Minister Ben Gabir

40 former senior police officers, including retired commissioners and superintendents, gathered today (Tuesday) for a special discussion in protest of the minister’s conduct Itamar Ben Gabirthis is because, according to them, “the conduct of the Minister of National Security in recent days is causing the disbandment of the police while taking over it in a hostile manner.”

“Minister Ben Gabir is acting contrary to his authority while being involved in giving operational instructions to the commanders,” the same retired officers claimed, “also, in preparation for Ramadan, irresponsible instructions were given that could ignite a new intifada and are based on a basic lack of understanding of the situation in Jerusalem.”

Therefore, those retired officers decided to carry out a series of activities in order to, according to them, “protect the police from Minister Ben Gabir”, and appealed to the Prime Minister with a request to remove the Minister from his post. In addition, they clarified that they will participate together with all retired police officers in a protest in Tel Aviv against the legal reform on Saturday night.
