Italy has filled its natural gas storage tanks by more than 95%, the Quotidiano Nazionale newspaper reported, citing the association of European gas infrastructure operators Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), Day.Az reports with reference to Prime.
“Italian natural gas reserves have exceeded 95%, reaching 185.65 terawatt-hours (TWh). Among the EU member states, Germany is in first place with 94.56% (239.82 TWh), followed closely by Italy,” the publication points out.
According to data provided by GIE, in the EU as a whole, gas reserves exceed 1 thousand TWh and amount to more than 94%. Third place in the list of European leaders was taken by the Netherlands (136.39 TWh, 95.77%), fourth place by France (121.72 TWh, 89.28%).
In 2022, Italy’s gas storage facilities were 90% full at the end of September.
