Marta Bassino is crowned super-G world champion this Wednesday in Méribel. The Italian, surprise winner, set a time of 1’28″06, beating the American Mikael Shiffrin by 11 hundredths and Kajsa Vickhoff Lie as well as Corneliia Huetter by 33 hundredths. Bassino, who had only done an 11e place at the 2021 Worlds in Cortina Ampezzo, won his first title in the discipline. As a reminder, it had been crowned at the same worlds during the Parallel event.
The Swiss Gut-Behrami, crowned in 2021 at the world championships and reigning Olympic champion, could not do better than 6th place with a time of 1’28 “43. Brignone, who won the combined yesterday missed his pass (1’28″61).
