Morocco benefits from a privileged geographical position in the Mediterranean, reinforced by an economic and geopolitical strategy which attracts the attention of economic and financial operators, indicates the daily.
The media outlet returns, in an article entitled “Morocco, emerging trade and energy sustainability”, to the port of Tangier Med, a large industrial hub, noting that the port has become an avant-garde logistics hub since 2007.
Tangier Med has established itself as one of the leading ports on the African continent, ahead of Durban in South Africa and Port Said in Egypt, the newspaper said, stressing that Tangier Med is also a bridge to Europe and an essential hub in the framework of Morocco’s development policy.
The publication also noted that Morocco, taking advantage of its proximity to the European continent, has set up free trade zones near the port and connected to it by a modern railway network. “Nearly a thousand companies, half of which are European, produce there mainly for export,” the same source said.
The industrial boom that Morocco is experiencing is not only based on the automobile industry, which certainly remains an important sector, observes the newspaper, which also cites other sectors such as aeronautics, textiles, electronics and agro-industry. “This industrial revolution attracts many investments, particularly in the fields of energy and infrastructure,” observes the newspaper.
Highlighting the significant investments attracted by Morocco, the media underlines that the majority of the financing concerns solar energy projects, followed by wind energy projects.
According to economic analysts and energy experts, the Kingdom is among the first beneficiaries of renewable energy funds in the Middle East and North Africa region, the publication said.
The newspaper also emphasizes that Morocco has an economic and geopolitical vision that also concerns the African continent. The Kingdom recently spoke out in favor of strengthening economic reforms in West Africa with a view to creating a regional free trade zone within the framework of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), thus intensifying its efforts for the development of infrastructure in the West African region, the newspaper concludes.
