Dubai: UAE and Italy agree to build strategic cooperation in economic, investment and trade sectors. During the visit of the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meoni to the UAE, important discussions were held between the two countries to expand cooperation.

Meloni, who arrived in Abu Dhabi on Saturday for a two-day visit, met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Common concerns regarding energy security, renewable energy, technologies and sustainable development were shared during the discussion.

During the meeting held at the Abu Dhabi Al Shatwi Palace, the two rulers reviewed several developments in the regional and international arenas and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. Both said that diplomatic solutions and cooperation should be prioritized to address various crises, enhance stability and security, and achieve a better future.

A discussion was also held regarding the Global Climate Summit hosted by the UAE. Meloni pointed out that Italy has a definite position in the fight against climate change and aims to achieve climate neutrality in 2050, similar to that of the UAE. Sheikh Mohammad said that he expects active representation of Italy in COP28.
