Press reports confirmed that Italian Marco Verratti, midfielder for the Qatari Al Arabi team, has offered himself to Barcelona, Spain, to join the team in the upcoming summer transfer period.
According to what was reported by the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Marco Verratti, 31, has offered himself to Barcelona.
The newspaper added that the Italian player expressed his willingness to return to playing in the European leagues by joining the “Blaugrana” next summer, after he was a real option for Barcelona in recent years, when Paris Saint-Germain blocked his transfer to the Catalan team.
Verratti, the former Paris Saint-Germain star, moved to Al-Arabi Club last summer with a two-season contract ending in June 2025, for 45 million euros, but the player who won the 2020 European Nations Cup with the Italian national team presented himself to Barcelona officials.
Mundo Deportivo indicated that the player will face an obstacle in implementing his wish, which is that the Qatari club will demand a large sum in exchange for dispensing with his services, which will stand in the way of completing the deal with the Catalan club.
Verratti participated with Al-Arabi in 18 matches this season in various competitions, where he managed to score 7 goals and receive 7 yellow cards.
