Impressive pictures. While violent hailstorms circulated over northern Italy on Friday, it was a rarer weather phenomenon that affected Milan. A tornado moved through the northeast of the city in the morning. The latter was filmed and broadcast on social networks.
This tornado and the bad weather caused several damages in Milan and its surroundings, says the Italian daily Corriere della Sera. “Firefighters carried out around 110 interventions due to flooding, roofs and fallen trees,” writes the Lombard newspaper.
Gusts at 200 km/h
Other rare weather phenomena have affected northern Italy. Gusts of winds at more than 200 km / h have for example been recorded near Bergamo, reports the transalpine daily The messenger. A tree, uprooted by the wind, reportedly hit a car and injured the four people on board.
The country is, like its neighbors, also exposed to the heat wave that affects part of Europe. This week, around twenty Italian cities were placed on heat wave red alert, like Rome, the capital.
